Heartfelt: a weekend away with Kate Moore + Ruby Chandler

Heartfelt :: a weekend away with Kate + Ruby
May 2017

I lead these retreats with my dear friend Ruby. A lot of times, that leads people to believe that we have answers. But the truth is that we don't. We're not here to fix anything. We're not even here to tell you anything's wrong in the first place. Our job is to share some tools we have that help us answer our own questions, or even just explore and be with our own questions. Our job here is to create the space and to hold the space for the work. And what happens every single time, is that we do work too. Stuff comes up for us too. We learn something new too.

I learned this weekend that expectations set us up for failure especially when they are not communicated. I learned that I have some goals that I'm not currently working towards so I'm going to have to make some changes. I'm learning to be kind to my grief and my sadness when it comes up. I'm learning that I crave partnership and connection in both business and personal. I value authentic connection and when that doesn't happen from both parties, I feel that, and it doesn't feel good for me so I need space. I love leading and I also love learning.

The work never ends and I feel a lot of freedom in that.

Ruby and I have each person who comes to Heartfelt write themselves a love letter. I want to share mine from this weekend with you:

hey babe,

i'm real proud of you you know. i'm real proud of you for choosing authentic connection. i'm real proud of you for letting go of people who don't bring out the authenticity in you. i'm real proud of you for continuing the practice of being kind to your grief or your sadness.

i'm real proud of you for the work you do - for creating your own purpose and letting that grow and evolve with you - i'm proud of you for sharing that.

i love that you ask yourself, "does this feel good?" on a regular basis - i love the way it makes you feel when you come back to authentic connection after you've lost it for a moment. and when you do misunderstand your own authenticity, babe, that's fine. you'll come back to it on your own time. you'll learn. you'll grow.

you're doing great.

you can turn around and come home whenever you want to.

i have you. i hold you. i love you.

love always,
your biggest fan

yes i call myself babe. yes i know i'm my own biggest fan. yes "you can turn around and come home whenever you want to" is one of my rules for running.
