Kate started getFIT615 in March of 2014 with one goal in mind: get people to sweat more. getFIT615 was an online outlet that hosted many free events around town with the intention of giving people the opportunity to try new gyms, studios, and new ways of moving their bodies.

The opportunity arose for getFIT615 to move into a brick and mortar in our historic home on Music Row, and the doors to getFIT615 opened on October 1, 2014 at 6am.

Kate encourages students to honor their bodies and appreciate them as they are. She believes that movement is vital to our well-being and that we should move our bodies in ways that we enjoy with people we love. Kate comes from the understanding that our hatred, and lack of understanding and compassion for our bodies lies in the patriarchy, our fatphobic society, and racism. Kate centers unlearning, and growth which is why she loves hosting Heartfelt Retreats and the Leadership Retreat via the Duality Project with her co-accomplice Ruby Chandler.

Her goals are to create a space where anyone can learn to enjoy movement, to teach you to value yourself as something more than a body, and to share her passion for connection and growth.

Her love language is quality time and her core value is authentic connection. Her top 5 themes, according to StrengthsFinder are Activator, Connectedness, Harmony, Command, and Responsibility.

Kate is a Body Image Movement Global Ambassador

Emma getFIT615's mascot and Kate's sidekick. She was rescued from Proverbs 12:10 on August 10, 2013 in Nashville, TN.

She is kind. She is gentle. She listens. She also likes for all of her students to know that they don't have to do anything that her mom says and instead gives them the option to play fetch with her or cuddle in the office.

Emma is a firm believer that you can always run faster. She knows that practicing steady breathing, landing lightly on all four paws, letting your tongue hang loose out the side of your mouth, and pinning your ears back in true "fast-ear" form, are running's most important tips. Emma also believes that sometimes you have to go after a squirrel and sometimes you have to lay on the cool concrete floors for a round or two.

She's been known to lick a face, steal a mat, and cuddle during a plank.

"I wanted to send you a note to let you know how you impacted my life this weekend. We were at the lake this weekend and my general policy is I stay on the boat in a coverup. I have twin fears of critters in the water and the insecurity of wearing a bathing suit around people. As everyone was bobbing in the water laughing I was sitting on the boat reading. I went to jump in and couldn't get past the fear and made up my mind to stay on the boat. Then Your words of "fear doesn't get to drive the car" rang through my head. Also the idea that at the end of my life I don't want to look back on my life and think of all the things I didn't do because I didn't have a six pack. So I said fuck fear (literally I whispered it to myself) and jumped in. And then proceed to have the best time.

So thank you for spreading your sunshine, your policy of not doing shit you hate, and the idea that fear doesn't get to drive the car (or the boat). I appreciate your authenticity and it freeing others up to be authentic and real and brave. Keep up the awesome posts, heartfelt emails, Instagrams, everything. It made a difference for me and I know it has for others too." - Ashleigh

You don't know me but I came into one of your classes about a year ago with my wife which I believe how I ended up on your mailing list. Just wanted to let you know that you kick a lot of ass. I enjoy seeing your emails as its evident that you are really freakin passionate about getting people in community and encouraging us to love ourselves and others. I am trying to do the same in my own life. Pretty cool to get to watch someone live into what they are made for and help others do it too. You give me a lot of courage to keep on. Rock on and keep heart. - Scott

I just wanted to say that I love your emails and I find you to be one of the most inspiring women who has ever crossed my path. I think you are incredible and what you are doing is amazing. I wish I lived in Nashville so I could be part of your community but in the meantime I will follow along via newsletter. (For reference, I was living in Clarksville and in school in Nashville and took one of your classes once upon a time but have been following along ever since...). You go girl.

That was one of the singles best subject lines and blog posts I have ever seen. - Emi

There was a 0% chance that you were not going to be listed as the Most Motivating Instructor of 2015. Congrats, Kate. Thanks for making our lives better, - Ben
